The Armstrong Explorer

The Armstrong Explorer excursion takes the fully restored X-CNR steam locomotive #2141 and it's consist of three passenger cars, two open air cars, a dining car, and a caboose on a 182 kilometer round trip from Kamloops to Armstrong, BC. The trip normall takes a full day, departing at 8:30am and returning by 6:00pm.

The 2141 no longer makes the excrsions due to issues surrounding the leasing of the rail line from the lease-holder, Kelowna Pacific Railway. However, the dream trip still lives on the minds and memories of the thousands of passengers who experienced "steaming back into history" on the Kamloops to Armstrong run.

KAMLOOPS HERITAGE RAILWAY HISTORY Dec. 1993 Interested meeting called sponsored by City of Kamloops, Parks& Recreation dept. under City Manager, Dennis Kujat. Fall, 1993 The City of Kamloops -approached by a private enterprise to restore and operate a steam locomotive to pull a tourist train in Alberta. 1) When the news of a possible relocation of the 2141 to Alberta, the City approached interested train enthusiasts with the Kamloops Railroaders. 2) Dec. 1993 -forty seven (47) people came to a meeting held at the Hal Rodgers Centre to explore interest in keeping the 2141 in Kamloops. Enough interest was determined to perhaps keep the 2141 as a static display in Riverside Park. Subsequent discussions about the possibility the 2141 of "restoring" was held - decision pending on the condition of the boiler. Feb.11, 1994 2141 Steam Locomotive Restoration formed.

First excursion for pay passengers -June 29,2002 . Oct. 24, 2004: 2141 makes test run to Armstrong . May 28,2005: Inaugural run of the Armstrong Explorer
